Laura Elizabeth Leaf Vaughn

Laura Elizabeth Leaf Vaughn, 67, of Wendell, NC, died on Thursday, July 31, 2025.

Laura was born on November 12, 1957, in Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Oliver William Leaf and Verna Douglas Leaf. After moving to North Carolina, she worked as a registered nurse for Johnston Memorial Hospital in several roles until retirement.

Laura dedicated her life to helping others, whether it was through her work, her family, or her community. She loved her family, her pets, and the Carolina Hurricanes. She will be remembered for her intelligence, humor, and dedication.

Laura was married to Gary Goodwin, who survives of the residence.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Evan Vaughn, Colin Vaughn (Casey Guditus), and Alec Vaughn; two sisters Linda Stutzman and Debbie Frasher.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Smithfield, NC, on October 4th, at 2:00PM.
