Kevin Robert Mulcahy, age 54, of Sims, NC, peacefully breathed his last at home, surrounded by his family and faithful dogs.
Born in Stoughton, MA, Kevin spent his childhood moving around the country with his family before returning to Massachusetts in his late teens, settling in the Cape Cod area. It was there that two of his great lifelong loves took hold: music and cars.
Kevin was a gifted technical drummer from a young age. His love for metal, his unmatched double-bass speed, and the bands he played with created some of his happiest early memories. It was also through his music—on a night his future wife came to hear him play and admire his ’64 Mustang—that the greatest part of his life began. Kevin was a car guy from the start. He began working on cars at 16 and went on to master his craft many times over. He became a Saab Master Technician, an ASE Master, and a GM Master Tech. Saab remained his true professional passion, and he cherished his twenty years working with the company.
When Saab dissolved within GM, Kevin took a courageous leap: he built his own business from the ground up, starting in the backyard with his teenage son at his side. The two worked tirelessly in the early years, and as the company grew, more family joined in. With the dedication of both family and his “adopted” work family, Kevin transformed that humble backyard beginning into a thriving, million-dollar enterprise—one of the proudest achievements of his life.
Outside of work, Kevin was an avid NASCAR fan and a devoted iRacing enthusiast. His racing simulator—large enough to take up an entire room—was his sanctuary, where he spent countless hours with his VRX team. When he wasn’t racing, he was often building high-performance computers to keep up with his own demanding standards. No matter what he was doing, though, one constant remained: his dog was always at his side.
Kevin is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jennifer L. Mulcahy of Sims, NC; his children, Shane P. Mulcahy of Clayton, NC, and Victoria L. Mulcahy of Raleigh, NC; his parents, Francis A. Mulcahy and A. Joanne Mulcahy of South Dennis, MA; his sister-in-law, Nancy Mulcahy; and his niece and nephew, Ian D. Mulcahy and Emily A. Mulcahy, all of Centerville, MA.
A memorial service will be held at Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. 3rd Street, Wendell, NC 27591, on Sunday, December 7th, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with a Celebration of Life to follow at the Mulcahy home in Sims.
