Josephine (Jo) Coley Knott Renfro
August 20, 1928 – February 6, 2015
Jo was a native of Wake County, the daughter of the late Jim A. Coley and Kate Hill Ihrie Coley. She was Granddaughter to the late Dr. John Haughton Ihrie of Wendell and Pittsboro. Jo was preceded in death by husbands Charles W. Knott and Carl F. Renfro, sister in law, Evelyn Knott Creech, and brother in law, A.B. Knott.
Surviving are children, Ihrie Lee Knott of Siler City, Charles Allen Knott (Victoria) of Raleigh, John R. Renfro (Joan) of Wendell, Patrick Lee Renfro of Topsail Beach, and Jennifer R. Jaeger (Barry) of Morganton. Grandchildren Adam Coley Knott of Raleigh, Zoe Marie Cline (Lee) of Morganton, Patrick Lee Renfro Jr. (Jessica) of Encino, Ca., Megan R. Miller (Kyle) of Beulaville, and 4 great grandchildren. Sisters Mary Young of Rolesville, Katherine Puryear of Raleigh, and brother James A. (Sonny) Coley of Wendell. Sisters in law Martha (Bootsy) Tucker, High Point, Polly Bostic, Sumter, SC. Many nieces and nephews.
Jo always worked in the medical field until her retirement as office manager for Wendell-Zebulon Surgical Clinic, P.A. She had many interests including playing bridge and reading. A longtime member of the Hoe ‘n Hope garden club, she served as president twice. A believer in the importance of garden clubs, Jo helped establish the Perennial Garden Club of Wendell, and the Steel Magnolia Garden Club of Zebulon.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to either the Wake County SPCA or Food Bank of NC.
Memorial funeral service 3 pm, Tuesday, Wendell Baptist Church with visitation from 1-3 in the church fellowship hall prior to the service and other times at Jo’s home. A private inurnment will be held later.
