September 3, 1934 – May 25, 2024

WENDELL- On the 25th of May, 2024, the world lost a great man; a loving father and grandfather, an honorable veteran and a great friend to many.

Joe Garner Creech left behind heavy hearts and great sorry as he took his last breath on this earth. He was born in Johnston County to the late Seba & Crama Corbett Creech. For many years, he worked as a Survey Engineer for the NC Dept. of Transportation. Joe served in the National Guard from which he retired after 42 years of service. He was a man of great humility and respect and the love he exemplified for his family was second to none. Joe’s presence here is no longer but he’ll always be remembered as one of the greats. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Phyllis Barnes Creech; his daughter, Kathy Lynn Creech and his brothers, Bill Creech and Ashley Creech.

He is survived by his son, Joe Creech, Jr. (Jenny); his grandson, Stephen Creech (fiancé, Clara Rodriguez); his granddaughter, Sarah Creech and his sister-in-law, Nell Creech.

In lieu of flowers, as no flowers will be accepted by the family, memorial contributions are requested to be made to the White Oak Caregivers, as they were very dear to the Creech family.

Memorial donations may be made to Meal Train: https://mealtrain.com/9qmke6.

Joe Creech was, among his other duties, was elected Mayor of Garner a number of times. He had the vision and urged the Council to establish several municipal parks, construct a new Town Hall, organized the first paid Library staff and building, and expanded the Town’s sewer capacity, just to name a few of his accomplishments. He was a good friend to many, and even after retirement from DOT, the Army and Mayoral duties, he continued to stay in touch with those who loved him and his family.May God gladly accept this Angel into His Kingdom. Many blessings to Joe Creech Jr and family.
