March 21, 1944 – June 8, 2016

SPRING HOPE – Joan Strickland Massey, 72, went home to the Lord on Wednesday with her family surrounding her.  A native of Nash County she was daughter to the late William Simon & Ruby Cone Strickland.  Joan worked with the Employment Security Commission and Department of Administration for over 30 years.  Joan loved jigsaw puzzles, playing piano for her church, and taught Sunday School for many years.  She was a kind & intelligent woman who will be remembered and missed by many.

Funeral service 11 am, Saturday, Rocky Cross Holiness Church with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived  by her husband of 50 years, Danny Massey of the home, children, Michael Daniel Massey (Melissa) of Middlesex, Angelia Massey Clifton (Tommy) of Spring Hope, sister, Linda Brown (Eppie) of Castalia, grandchildren, Preston Clifton, Beverly Rogers, Patrick Massey (Madeline), Grant Massey, great grandchildren, Landon, Aiden, & A. J.

Flowers welcomed or memorials may be made to Rocky Cross Holiness Church Building Fund.  The family is using Designs By Donna Florist (919) 365-3929.
