KNIGHTDALE – Jessica Marie Boyette, 72, died Monday. A native of Johnston County she was daughter of the late Edwin Gordon & Jessie Hodge Boyette. Jessica attended Mars Hill College from 1959 through 1961 and received her Bachelors’ and Masters of Education degrees from Campbell University. She taught in the Cumberland Schools System for 31 years, and was on the NCAE Board of Directors. Jessica retired from teaching in 1995. In 2000 she came out of retirement and taught for a year in Johnston County.
She is survived by her brothers, Hal Boyette (Donna) of Wendell, Tim Boyette (Carolyn) of Rock Hill, SC, nephews, Adam Boyette of Wendell, Ashley Boyette of Rock Hill, and niece Valerie Atkinson of Wendell, 5 great nieces and 4 great nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Clyde’s Chapel Baptist Church or to Hospice of Wake County.
Memorial funeral service 11 am, Saturday, Clyde’s Chapel Baptist Church with inurnment to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 10 am – 11 am, in the sanctuary prior to the service, and other times at the home of Adam Boyette.
