WENDELL – Jesse Junior Boykin, 76, died on Saturday. He was born in Nash County to the late Maine Elton and Katie Hinnant Boykin. He worked his life as a farmer. Service was a significant part of Jesse’s life, serving as a volunteer fireman for 17 years, three years in Wendell and 14 in Corinth-Holders. Jesse will be remembered as a card and a half, hardworking and being loyal to a fault. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Benny and Madeline Boykin and Phyllis Smith.
Funeral service 2pm, Wednesday, Baptist Tabernacle Church, 1599 NC-231, Wendell. Pastor Glen Brock will officiate. Burial will follow in the Clyde’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Stella Hocutt Boykin; children, Michael Boykin (Renee Bell) and Amy Ealisa Boykin; siblings, Danny Ray Boykin (Holly), Myrtie “Tiny” Brewer and Debra Driver (Danny); aunt, E. Jay Evans; grandchildren, Clay Haislip, Sarah and Rebecca Grace Boykin, Katherine Lewis, Robert Allen Hedrick, Andrew and Katelyn Bell and one great-grandchild, Brantleigh Dunbar.

Jesse’s passing was a shock to us all. Capable, dependable, and loyal to family and friends, he will be missed by all who knew him well. Our hearts go out to his devoted family and we share their sorrow in this difficult time.
So sorry about Jesse ..he will surely be missed. We are sorry we can’t be with you at these times due to the virus but just know we are with you in our hearts.
Just found out of the passing of Jesse. He was a good friend to daddy(Billy), he was a good steward of our farm after daddy retired from farming and I appreciate his many years of taking care of our farm. My thoughts are with you and the family.
