Wendell, NC – Sherry “Jane” Horton Collier, Originally of Raleigh, NC 85 years old passed away early Thursday morning, October 18, 2018 at Novant RMC Hospice in Salisbury, NC. She is survived by her children, Michael, (Theresa) Collier, John (Sherry) Collier, Bryan (Anne) Collier, Marian (Anthony) Navarro, sister Judith (Pete) Maynard. Sister in Law, Elizabeth Guasti. She was preceded in death by her youngest son Philip Collier, her sister, Carolyn Horton Rogers, brother Worth “Jerry” Horton , Parents Worth and Maggie Marshburn Horton. She has 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by other family members including first cousins, Jeri Jeffreys (Michael Newcity), second cousin, Corie Kochanski Jeffreys, half-sister Pamela Collier (Patrick) Hagan, friends Ingrid and Casey Carter. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks for all of their love and support during her final two year journey in Raleigh and Carteret County.
She was the owner of Carolina Safety Distributors in Raleigh servicing many of the construction and manufacturing facilities in and around the Raleigh area. Jane loved children and animals and spent her last few years with Duffy, her poodle and Sparky, her pug, gazing out at the pine trees in Pine Knoll Shores before going to assisted living in Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay in Sea Level, NC. She had a collection of cats, birds, and ducks that she enjoyed feeding during her stay at Snug Harbor.
Final arrangements are being handled by Strickland Funeral Home of Wendell with graveside service at Greenmont Cemetery 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 19th and lunch with friends and family at Smithfield Chicken and BBQ In Knightdale afterwards. She will finally be back in her beloved Wendell near her deceased grandparents Dan and Jane Marshburn.
In Lieu of Flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay and Pine Knoll Shores Fire Auxiliary. Please mail to Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay at 272 Hwy 70 East Sea Level, NC 28577, noting in memo line for Employee Council donation. Gifts will help buy residents’ Christmas gifts, assist in funding activities, performances for special events, and assist family members after a resident passes, etc.
The address for PKS Fire Auxiliary is 314 Salter Path Road, Pine Knoll Shores, NC. 28512, and donations will be to assist in clean up after Hurricane Florence.

I never knew your Mom, nor have I met you in person, but she must have been a great women as she did raise an amazing, thoughtful & kind daughter. I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you & your family.
It was my pleasure and honor to have known Jane while a neighbor at Reefstone, Pine Knoll Shores. We shared stories and insights. Her children, Phil and Marian were and are special to me.

Hi You don’t remember me but I helped take care of Mrs Jane and sparky and Duffy when she was sick sometimes and my neighbor for 8 years in Raleigh I will miss you miss Jane .love ya
