James Mitchiner Knuckley
February 27, 2002 – July 5, 2022
James Mitchiner Knuckley, 20, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. He was born on February 27, 2002, as a special gift to his parents George and Emily Knuckley of Wendell, North Carolina.
James was a gift to our immediate and extended family, an angel placed in our lives. And even though he depended on us for basic everyday needs, we needed him more. Without having the ability to speak, James has taught us patience, how to find happiness in any circumstance, and how to love without bounds. He never met a stranger. Simple in mind, but rich in spirit, James gave unconditional love to everyone he met. James enjoyed upbeat music, food, and playing patty cake, but what made him the happiest was being surrounded by loved ones. His sweet and wonderful disposition is a result of all the loving hands who have cared for him over the years. We are heartbroken to lose him, but rest in the comfort of knowing he is at peace.
In addition to parents George and Emily Knuckley, he is survived by older siblings Edward Knuckley and wife Aspen of Charlotte and Samara Kidd and husband Matt of Raleigh; aunts and uncles Kathy and Bill Teague, Marie and Scott Abee, Mary-Kathryn and Mickey Phillips, Boo and Jay Jefferson, and Joe Ann and Dick Wright; and numerous cousins. James is predeceased by his two older brothers Lewis George Knuckley IV and James Joseph Knuckley, grandparents Lewis and Jeanette Knuckley of Wendell, grandparents Mary and Jimmy Mitchiner of Smithfield, and great-aunt Kathryn Kannon of Wendell.
A funeral mass will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday July 8, 2022, at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 608 Lions Club Road in Wendell. The family will receive visitors at the church one hour preceding the service. Interment to follow at Greenmount Cemetery, 536 W. Academy St. in Wendell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tammy Lynn Center at 739 Chappell Drive Raleigh, NC 27606, Frankie Lemmon School at 3311 Carl Sandburg Court Raleigh, NC 27610, or St. Eugene Catholic Church.

I did not know of James’ passing until just a while ago and i am so sorry. Few things in life bring as much happiness as the birth of a child and nothing brings as much pain as the loss of one. My prayer for all of you is that somehow, someway, you’ll find peace of heart and of mind. I do know how very much he was loved and how much those in your family who have gone before will care for him – and for you – until you are reunited. Take gentle care.
