James Alexander “Alex” Johnson
November 11, 1985 – March 16, 2023

ZEBULON – James Alexander “Alex” Johnson, 37, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, March 16,2023. Alex was born in Wake County, November 11, 1985, to James Edgar and Hilda Alexander Johnson.  He attended Enloe High School and worked for his father’s grading & hauling business until its closure.  From there, Alex moved on to work for Alliance Towing.  He became an avid pool player, starting at the young age of 6.  He earned certificates from the Brass Tap & Billiards for being the 1st youngest player to ever win the Monday and Thursday Night Tournaments presented by Tony Coates.  Making friends came easily to him as Alex was such a loving and gentle person; always smiling, laughing, and joking.

He is survived by his life partner, Diezel (his dog); parents, James and Hilda Johnson; sisters, Victoria Willoughby of Raleigh and Gina Oakley (Jerry) of Zebulon; brother, Mark Willoughby (Kristin) of Clayton; nephew, Jeremy Willoughby of Raleigh; niece, Lindsey Nall of Raleigh; great niece, Isabella of Raleigh; girlfriend, Faith Cole. Mentor, Dave Stancil and many extended family and friends.

Funeral Service will be held 3:00pm, Wednesday, March 22, 2023 in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory.  Visitation will take place from 1:00 – 3:00pm, prior to the service.  Interment will take place at Greenmount Cemetery, Wendell.

Flowers are welcomed and memorial contributions may be made to your local SPCA or a charity for the hearing impaired of your choosing.
