Iva Nell Hensley Coley
July 31, 1927 – October 17, 2019

Iva Nell Hensley Coley, 92, of Wendell, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2019.  Iva Nell was one of nine children born in Madison County on July 31, 1927 to the late Oscar S. Hensley and Texie McIntosh Hensley. She graduated from Flat Creek High School and married the late W. Brooks Coley in 1945.

For years, she was a faithful and devoted member of Wendell Baptist Church.  She served on various committees but will be long remembered for her devotion in preparing food for bereaved families and carrying homemade pimento cheese to friends.

Iva Nell has donated her body to the Brody School of Medicine, East Carolina University, Greenville, NC.  A visitation and reception to honor her life will be held at the Wendell Baptist Church, large fellowship hall, on Sunday from  2-4 P.M.         A private family graveside burial service will be held at a later date.

Surviving children are Michael G. Coley (Alma) of Washington, N.C., the late Thomas B. Coley (Debra) of Wendell and Pamela C. Lamm (Chick) of Wendell. Grandchildren are Gavin Coley (Emily), Elizabeth C. McCall (Jason), Dean Coley, Amy C. Waters (Matt), Ashley L. Orr, Stacey L. Brown (Chris) and Jillana L. Zipf (Adam).  There are nine great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wendell Baptist Church or a charity of one’s choice.
