Iva Jean McLamb Carter
March 4, 1954 – January 22, 2026
Iva Jean McLamb Carter, 71, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday. She was born in New Hanover County to the late Fred McLamb and Barbara Powers. Mrs. Carter was a beloved wife, mother, sister, & grandmother. Jean loved dancing, playing cards, especially “Push”, classic cars, the outdoors including fishing, flowers and animals.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years Donald Ray Carter. Her children; Larry Carter and wife Laurie, April Gibson and husband Joshua, Jeannie Franklin and husband Wade. Her siblings, Archie Sellers and wife Nancy, Edwinna Heath. Her grandchildren and pride; Destiny Enevoldsen husband Joshua and Haylee Gibson
Visitation 1-2 pm, Wednesday, Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third St., Wendell. The funeral will follow at 2 in the chapel and interment will follow in Harris Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. www.stricklandfuneral.com

Iva Jean and I were classmates and friends many, many years ago at Penderlea School in Willard.NC. We lost contact with each but reunited through Facebook several years ago and sent Christmas cards to each other after reconnecting. Got the sweetest card from her thus past Christmas.
