Hilda Brayboy Jones
December 12, 1938 – January 12, 2018
Hilda Brayboy Jones, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Friday with her family surrounding her. She was born in Robeson County to the late Chester Arthur & Lorener Jacobs Brayboy. She worked for Champion & Mortex. She loved her flowers, being involved with her church family, enjoyed serving, and many thought she was the inventor of the Arnold Palmer Drink. She was preceded in death by siblings; Gene, Libby, & Chester, Jr and her son-in-law, Gene Lambert.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles Thomas Jones of the home, Audrey J. McSwain (Al) of Zebulon, Jennifer J. Lambert of Knightdale, Selena J. Veazey (Ronny) of Wendell, Mary J. Newsome of Wendell, Carolyn Jones of Wendell, Charles David Jones (Kim) of Clayton, siblings; Jerry Brayboy (Connie) of Zebulon, Lois Brayboy of Knightdale, grandchildren; Philip (Megan), Chad (Jamie), Grant (Libby), Josh (Jenn), Amaret (Miguel), Justin (Ashley), Brandon, Kodi, Chase, Connor, & Sherry and 14 great grandchildren.
Flowers welcomed or memorials may be made to Clyde’s Chapel Baptist Church, c/o Hilda Jones Memorial Choir Room.
Funeral service 2 pm, Monday, Clyde’s Chapel Baptist Church, 16657 Buffalo Rd., Wendell, NC 27591, with visitation from 12-2 pm, prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
