Helen St. Claire Glover Horton
November 14, 1953 – November 7, 2024

Helen St. Claire Glover Horton, 70, of Wendell, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024. She was born on November 14, 1953, in Johnston County, the cherished daughter of the late John Lindsay Glover and Juanita Jean Thomas.

Helen lived a life devoted to her family, her community, and her passions. She grew up in Wendell and was the owner of Kids Stuff, a children’s clothing store that served families for many years. Her commitment to education and children’s development extended beyond retail, as she also spent many years assisting with kindergarten classes throughout the Wake County school system.

Besides her work with children, Helen was a key part of the family business, Horton Hauling, helping it grow and thrive. She was deeply devoted to her family and loved her farm animals dearly. Helen had a true passion for gardening, cooking, and keeping everything spotless. She loved to keep everything organized, whether for herself or others. Most times, you wouldn’t catch her without a broom in hand or a leaf blower.

She is survived by her daughter, Lindsey Horton Weaver (Isaac Welker) and stepson, Shannon Horton (Barbara); sisters, Virginia Glover and Anne Fowler; and grandchildren, John Lindsay Weaver, Charlotte St. Claire, Kenzie Grace, and Tatum Welker and Raley Horton.

Helen is also survived by her nieces, Brittany Poindexter, Abby Gray and Christy Peterson, and nephews, Matthew Bunch, Tyler Bunch and Zachary Barron.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Joseph “Joe” Horton.

Helen’s family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time. Her kindness, dedication, and love for her family and community will be remembered always.

Memorial Service will be Friday, November 15, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home. The family will meet with friends following the service.

Arrangements are with Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third St., Wendell. www.stricklandfuneral.com

Helen was such a vibrant person when we attended Vaiden Whitley High School. She was always so.pretty and dressed in the current fashion. My prayers for the family and friends that are in the Wendell area. Prayers for a comforting peace in the coming days.
