RALEIGH – Grady Medlin Doyle, 78, passed away Saturday, September 4th, 2021. He was born on May 26th, 1943, in Wake County, NC to the late Grady B. (GB) Doyle and Grace Youch Doyle. Grady served his country in the US Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. After the military, he worked in construction and was OCD about making sure everything was done to perfection. He also spent many hours helping his family, neighbors, and veterans. He was an avid conservationist and believer in protecting the environment. Grady was known as “Grady Medlin” to family. He was a kind, giving, caring, and compassionate man. He was a devoted caregiver for his wife, Bettie, when she became ill. Ironically, he passed away on her birthday. In addition to his parents, Grady was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bettie Mattox Doyle; grandparents, Grady and Adna Doyle; sister, Amelia Doyle Minton; uncle, Robert; and aunts, Lyndell, Rochelle, and Elsie.
Grady is survived by his brother, Graylyn Doyle (Pamela) of Wake Forest, step-daughters, Sheri Harper (Ken) of Wilson, Kim Hill (Ken) of Wilson, step-grandchildren, Lauren Ohara, Cameron Fox (Stephen), Kenan de Roziere (Chas), step-great-grandchildren, Reagan Ohara, Carson Ohara, Sutton Fox, Clara de Roziere, uncles, Howard G. Doyle (Mary Rose) of Zebulon, Bob Doyle (Ginna) of Knightdale, one niece, one nephew, many cousins, and his fur baby, Bluebell who was a constant companion, whether he was on the tractor, cutting wood, or building something.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
Memorial service, 11 am, Wednesday, Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel, 211 W. Third St., Wendell, NC 27591. Visitation 10-11 am prior to service.

I’m so sorry to hear about Grady. He was a generous founding member of the NC Purple Martin Society, and such a sweet soul. He will be missed.
Grady, you were a great neighbor and friend to all. We will miss you in “the circle”.
So sorry to hear about Grady’s passing. He was such a kind neighbor and a superb handyman in the past.. I will miss seeing him.
