Glenn Albert Dickinson

Glenn Albert Dickinson, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 28th.  He was born in Iowa to the late Raymond Claire and Lulu Eva Dickinson.  He is preceded in death by his daughter, Shirley Jo, and his 6 brothers, Cecil, Earl, Lowell, Ernie, Clyde, and Elmer Dickinson.

He served his country on the USS Coral Sea on the Mediterranean Sea in the Korean Conflict. He was a Machinist’s Mate, Second Class on the ship. He received an Honorable Discharge from the Navy on February 20th, 1952.

Glenn worked in Managerial Positions for Omark Prentice Hydraulics for 28 years, working his way up from welder to management. After retirement he worked as a small engine repairman for a local nursery.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Delores Otto Dickinson, married June 14, 1952.

 Children: Barbara Lou Lee (Jimmy), Julie Ann Overby (Glenn), Jane Marie Layden (Michael), Donald Alan Dickinson (Susi).

Grandchildren: Jacquie Kay, JK (Holly), Nick (Amanda), Matt (Laura), Lizzie, Kristina, Katelynn, Alex (Kendra), Michael Jr. (Sara), Nikki (Josh), Annie (Alan), Ryan (Laura).

25 Great-Grandchildren, he was very proud of all of his Grandchildren.

He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

His daughter Barbara Lee, granddaughter Jacquie Lee and great granddaughter Amber Lee were care takers for Dad, Grandpa (Boppa), for the last 3 years.  The great job they did for Dad and Mom is appreciated by the Family.

“My grandpa taught me how to do a little bit of everything, but he didn’t teach me how to live without him.”

Visitation is at 2 PM at the Friendship Free Will Baptist Church, 744 Friendship Church Rd, Middlesex, NC, 27557, Thursday, August 3, 2023.

Memorial Service is at 3 PM at Friendship Free Will Baptist Church, Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
