George Nelson Hicks
March 5, 1944 – June 21, 2017

PILOT COMMUNITY – George Nelson Hicks, 73, went home to be with his Lord & Savior Wednesday with his family surrounding him.  He was born in Franklin County to the late George Wallace & Zettie Taylor Hicks.  He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He retired from the City of Raleigh where he was an inspector.  Nelson gave unconditional love and was a solid rock.  He was honest and gentle with an unwavering spirit.

Funeral service  11 am, Saturday, Strickland Funeral Home Chapel.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Brantley Hicks, children, Kimberly Hale (Brian), Joni Hicks,  Curtis Hicks (Kristin), all of the Pilot Community, siblings, Phil Hicks (Toni) of Zebulon, Ronnie Hicks of Raleigh, Tanya Baker of Pilot Community, 6 grandchildren & 1 great grandchild.

Flowers welcomed or memorials may be made to Pine Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

    My condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Hicks. Losing someone close can be difficult but the God provid3s comfort through his word. Revelation 21:4 speaks of a time when death, pain and mourning will be no more.
