GEORGE H. TINGEN, JR.

November 6, 1930 – February 18, 2014

ZEBULON – George Hampton Tingen, Jr., 83, died Tuesday at home.  A native of Craven County he was son to the late George Hampton & Ethel Smith Tingen, Sr.  Mr. Tingen served in the US Navy and worked for Nello L. Teer Company for over 30 years.  He loved fishing, gardening, and any Ford race car.

Funeral 3 pm, Thursday, Strickland Funeral Home Chapel.  Internment Greenmount Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margie Byrd Tingen of the home, children, George Wilson Tingen of Zebulon, Brenda T. McAllister (Herbert) of Wendell, sisters, Gladys Sykes (Lester) of New London, NC, Julia Haithcox, Edith Hodge, both of Burlington, Annebelle Stanton, El Paso, TX, grandchildren, Shane McAllister (Robin), Scott McAllister (Lisa), George William Tingen, great grandchildren, Ashleigh, Zachary, Austin, & Ava.
