Gary Wesley Richardson

Gary Wesley Richardson

Gary Wesley Richardson passed away at his home on February 14, 2021 at 8:20 PM after a 1.5 year battle with pancreatic cancer. Gary was born on September 4, 1953 in Virginia. His parents, Carl and Mary Richardson predeceased him.

Gary is survived by his son, Carl Richardson, his sister, Cheryl Emory (Coy), his special girls, Leigh Ann Pitts and Chelsea Greene (Seth) as well as nephews, Lee (Shannon) and Jason (Melanie), along with great nieces, McKayla and Evelyn and great nephews, Tyler and Ethan. Gary was lucky to have many many friends who loved and cared about him and the family is truly grateful for each of them but none more so than Joe Ramey who selflessly spent so much time with him, being just there and being a true help. Gary was truly a one in a million man.

He loved the outdoors, riding his motorcycle, being in the mountains, woodworking and playing his music loud. Gary held the secrets of many people and spent his life uncovering secrets as one of the finest private investigators ever to have a license. Gary was the most loyal and dedicated friend, generous with his time and his skills. If a friend needed something fixed or an ear to listen, Gary was there. He spent many weekends, escorting the remains of fallen soldiers. Gary never expected any recognition nor wanted any recognition for his acts. Gary was especially fond of Veterans and animals and was always willing to lend a hand and help any way he could–again making sure he stayed out of the limelight.

Gary was a consummate perfectionist and would spend hours getting any project just right. He had a wicked sense of humor and loved when people asked for Sam Elliott’s autograph, which he gladly gave to many an unsuspecting person. Before becoming sick, Gary spent every morning at the gym where he made sure he stayed in shape. He was in such good shape that he was the model in a photo shoot for the gym.

In typical Gary fashion, he wanted no funeral service and the family is honoring that wish but plans on a celebration in the near future.

In lieu of flowers or other honors, the family requests that donations in Gary’s honor be made to Pawfect Match at www.pawfectmatch.org online or through mail at Pawfect Match Rescue and Rehabilitation, P.O. Box 171, Holly Springs, NC 27540.
