Freeman Coley, Jr.
May 5, 1935 – June 7, 2025

Freeman Coley Jr, born May 5th, 1935 to Freeman and Dora Crumpler Coley. Surrounded by family at Transitions Life Care-NC (Hospice) Raleigh, early morning hours, entered into eternal rest June 7th, 2025. Freeman was preceded in death by Son: Dennis Coley Sr., Brothers: Donald, Jimmy, and David Earl Coley. Sisters: Mary Rose Pender, Mable Lee Williford, Pasha Newcomb, and Dora Francis Langley.

Beginning at the age around 6 yrs old, his life was devoted to family and farming, placing education aside. His career eventually continued at Long Manufacturing (Athey’s Inc), and Omark Industries (Blount Industries). Having very little education, Freeman strived to learn by educating himself and becoming a very valuable employee for the companies in which he worked.

At the age of 19, Freeman met the love of his life Peggy, and they recently celebrated 70 wonderful years of marriage together and created 5 generations. Freeman always believed that in all things putting God first was the key to it all. Freeman always shared funny moments, throwing a joke whenever he could and was so proud of the fact that even at age 90, he could still bend over and touch the floor. Freeman was such a kindhearted man that would do anything for anyone. He loved to coon hunt and deer hunt making sure that he showed everyone his trophies hanging on the wall, many times becoming the topic of discussion to all who visited the home.

Freeman leaves behind his Wife of 70 yrs Peggy Sutton Coley, Daughters: Jackie Diane Crutchfield, Phyllis and husband Bishop Timothy Cowan, Son: Shelton and wife Susie Coley. Freeman also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

We want to thank the nursing staff at Transitions Life Care (Hospice) for the exceptional care and professionalism for Freeman as well as the family exemplifying the quality of care that should be shown to a loved one and their family in their final days here on earth. Thank you to all who came, prayed, sent cards of love and encouragement, the calls, the meals, and served our family. We are forever grateful!!!
