Wendell – Fonda Bice Boyd, 88, a good and faithful servant of the Lord went to her Heavenly home on November 8, 2023. She was born in Marion County to the late Bernard Oley and Pearl Lena Butcher Bice. Fonda was a selfless woman that cared for so many people. She was a retired missionary that dedicated her time to caring for others. She was very strong-willed and determined, no matter the cause. The life that she lived will carry on in the memories of all the lives that she encountered. Along with her parents, she was preceded by her sister, Shirley Hitt and brother, Martin Bice.
She is survived by her husband of an astounding 72 years, Reverend Lester C. Boyd, Sr.; daughter, Darlene Richardson (Tommy); son, Lester “Butch” C. Boyd Jr. (Joan); siblings, Kenneth Childers, Karen Vitaley, 2 grandsons, Ruffin Richardson (Angela) and Rusty Richardson (Donna), and 2 wonderful great grandchildren, Caitlyn Richardson and Hunter Richardson.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Operation Christmas Child or Wendell Baptist Missions.
Funeral service will be at Wendell Baptist Church located at 3651 Wendell Blvd, Wendell NC on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 2:00pm with visitation from 1:00pm to 2:00pm prior to service. Burial will follow at Baptist Tabernacle Church Cemetery, 1599 NC 231, Wendell NC.

Darlene and family,
My condolences in the passing of your mom, grandma. I still have my prayer shawl she made for.me several years ago. She always showed her faith and love for others through her unselfish acts of kindness. Prayers for peace. Love and hugs.
