FAYE S. MOODY
January 10, 1920 – November 10, 2012
WENDELL – Faye Sloan Moody, 92, died Saturday evening. A native of Greer SC, she was the daughter of Sampy Babb & Margaret Neely Sloan. She was married to the late James Earl Moody for 48 years.
She graduated Nursing School in Spartanburg, SC in 1946. Her nursing career started with Dr. J.R. Hester in Wendell, where she was receptionist, x-ray tech, office manager and nurse for 15 years. She worked briefly at the Hospital in Elizabeth City and Woodard Herring Hospital in Wilson. In 1965 she was named Head Nurse of the Emergency Room for the newly built Wilson Memorial Hospital where she worked for 18 years. After retiring, Faye and Jim returned to Wendell.
She is survived by her children, Jim “Butch” Moody (Kay) of Apex, Shirley Mozingo (Fred) of Selma, Michael Moody (Marilyn) of Bailey, sister Lucille Lee of Burlington, NC, grandchildren, Shannon, James, Karen, John & Steven and 8 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to: Corinth Fire Dept., 5734 Lake Wendell Rd., Wendell, NC, 27591, Corinth Baptist Church, 13450 NC 96, Zebulon, NC, 27597, or Hospice of Wilson Medical Center, 1705 Tarboro St., Wilson, NC, 27893.
Graveside service 11 am, Wednesday at the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery, Hwy 96 Zebulon, NC. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
