Elsie Pannell Sanderford
May 7, 1935 – September 14, 2025
Elsie Pannell Sanderford, 90, went home to be with the Lord early Sunday morning. She was born in Chesterfield County, Virginia, to the late Charles Edgar and Nona Valiree Glover Pannell. She loved life and teaching her first grade students at Emma Conn Magnet School in Wake County, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 56 years, and the love of her life, Edward “Sandy” Bagley Sanderford, Sr., and siblings Murial Cobb, Richard Warren Pannell, Charles Wilburn Pannell, and Eleanor Tate.
She is survived by Edward B. Sanderford, Jr., and his wife Christina W. Sanderford and their children Benjamin; Valiree F. Coyt, her husband Luis, and their son Christopher; and Luke and his wife Olivia.
Flowers welcomed or memorials may be made to Backpack Buddies, at a public elementary school of your choice.
Memorial Visitation will be held 2-3 pm, Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W Third St. Wendell with a memorial service to follow at 3 pm in the Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel. www.stricklandfuneral.com

Mrs. Sanderford was my husband Terry’s first grade teacher at Emma Conn, and she was one of his favorite teachers.
