Elaine Turner Barham of Zebulon, age 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026, with her family by her side after a 4-year battle with cancer. Elaine was born May 7, 1949 in Raleigh, NC to the late Walter Lee and Sallie Matthews Turner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Jack Turner, Roy Turner, Frank Turner, Coy Turner, Peggy Chase, Gladys Faulkner, Addie Batten and Linda Johnson.
Elaine is survived by her husband of 56 years, Julian Barham, her daughter, Julie Barham, 2 grandsons, Dallie and Nathanial Barham, sisters, Sally Posch and Brenda Narron (Jerry), several nieces and nephews.
The best word to describe Elaine was “AMAZING.” She was a loving, supportive wife and best friend to her husband and did whatever was needed for her family. She was a great mother to her daughter, and she would do anything for her. She had 2 grandsons that, just mentioning their names, put a smile on her face. She loved to spend time with her sisters going places and going out to eat. She also loved going to different places with her daughters and grandsons.
She was a hard worker and being a farmer’s wife and business partner, she did way more than her share of work. She was a homemaker that designed and decorated her homes herself.
She was always the first one to help you and she never met a stranger. She was always talking to people, smiling and making them laugh.
Through everything she did and faced, and throughout her life, she was still the sweetest, kindest person you would ever meet. She always had a smile on her face, and she never showed any anger, sadness or disappointment. She was never the kind of person to negative or down.
She was very generous and a very kind, loving person. She will truly be missed and loved FOREVER, leaving an empty spot in her family’s lives and hearts.
Honoring the family’s wishes, services for Elaine are Private.
Arrangements are entrusted to Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third St., Wendell, NC 27591. www.stricklandfuneral.com

Elaine was the sweetest sister anybody could ask for. She was very smart and pretty, and very caring for all of us. Our daddy would call her “My beautiful Elaine”, and she was that. Will always remember when she was a senior at Corinth Holder High school 1967 , she was picked by the Yearbook to be “Miss Corinthian”. She was so surpised and Happy they had chosen her. Now Jesus has picked her to be another beautiful Angel in Heaven. I know that Linda and Trudy will be so happy to see you. We will always miss and Love you. Kitty
I am so sorry to hear this. I can remember when my grandmother was living, Julia Allen(JuJu),, Elaine was so kind to her. My grandmother adored you all. My prayers are with your family.
Julian, Julie, and family.
We loved Elaine as our own family. She was definitely one special lady. Those Turner girls, nothing like them. Lifting you all up in prayer. We love y’all ❤️
My deepest sympathy to Julian and Julie. Aunt Elaine was a special person. I will always remember the summers we spent in Wendell with her and Sally and Brenda. One thing I will always remember is riding in her truck with her and her singing while she was driving. I am glad she is not suffering anymore. Prayers to everyone.
Whenever I’d see Elaine, she always had a smile on her face and a witty remark that would brighten your day. Always. Randy and I send condolences to you Julian, Julie, Dallie, Nathan and family.
Love
Rhonda
