EDITH HARPER HUBER

ZEBULON – Edith Harper Huber, of 10709 Debnam Rd., went to be with her Lord on Sunday. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Christopher Harper and Willie Elizabeth Honeycutt Harper.
Ms. Huber was born in Greensboro on September 26, 1929. She graduated from Greensboro High School, Pfeiffer Jr. College & High Point University where she was named “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and College.”
Ms. Huber taught High School for more than 23 years. She retired from Southeast High School in 1995. The honor that she treasured the most was being voted “the most favorite teacher” at Etowah High School in Woodstock, Georgia. She received many other honors.
She was a member of Newlyn Street Methodist Church in Greensboro. During her life she taught Sunday School, served as Official Board Member, and other capacities. She also served as a U. S. Missionary for the Methodist Church where she was given a lifetime membership in the WSCS.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Phillips & husband Todd, grandchildren Christopher & Cassie Phillips of the home; One son, Richard Thomas Huber of Tampa, FL, brother, Richard Harper of Houston, TX, nephew, Rick Harper of Lake Oswego, OR, niece, Carol Milligan of CA, cousins, Frances Barnes, Doris Bond, Wilber Honeycutt of Greensboro, Fred & Bobby Honeycutt and Evelyn Seplow of FL, great nephews, John Harper, David & Andrew Milligan.
We wish to thank Dr. Robert Wehbie and his wonderful staff at Wakefield Rex Cancer Center for the loving care they gave Mother.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society, 401 Harrison Oaks Blvd, Suite 200, Cary, NC 27513.
Graveside funeral service will be 4 pm, Thursday, Zebulon Town Cemetery with visitation from 2:00 – 3:30 pm prior to the service at Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St, and other times at the home. www.stricklandfuneralhomes.net
