Delores Helen Otto Dickinson
February 12, 1930 – December 27, 2025
ZEBULON – Delores Helen Otto Dickinson, 95, passed away on December 27, 2025 after having lived a faith-filled life, devoted to her family and to her Savior. Delores was born in Elizabeth, NJ to the late Lewis William Charles & Helen Elinore Blomberg Otto. While her health permitted, Delores was an active member of her church and loved her church family. Her loved ones meant more to her than life itself, and they are truly grateful to have been blessed with such a wonderful matriarch. Outside of being the best homemaker her family could have asked for, her life boasted numerous additional accomplishments, from being a successful cook in a Wisconsin hotel, to running a country curtain and craft store in Zebulon, NC.
Delores was predeceased by her beloved husband of 71 years, Glenn Dickinson, an infant daughter (Shirley Jo), as well as by her two brothers. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Lee (Jimmy), Julie Overby (Glenn), Jane Layden (Mike) and her son, Don Dickinson (Susi); her grandchildren, Jacquie, JK (Holly), Nick (Amanda), Matt (Laura), Lizzie (Mark), Kristina (Adam), Katelynn, Alex (Kendra), Michael Jr. (Sara), Nikki (Josh), Annie (Alan), Ryan (Laura) as well as 26 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Her family’s warmest regards go out to her faithful caregiver and special friend Stephanie Smith, as well as Janet Dowdy and Abbie Williams. Also, a special thank you to Jack Hinton for always being there.
A Memorial Service to Celebrate Ms. Delores will take place at 2:00pm on Monday, January 12, 2026, Friendship Free Will Baptist Church, 744 Friendship Church Rd., Middlesex, NC 27557. Inurnment will take place immediately following the service in the church cemetery.
