Della Wilkes Winneberger
May 20, 1939 – March 16, 2021
Knightdale – Della Wilkes Winneberger, 81, died Tuesday. Della was born in Franklin County to the late Jimmy & Laura Wilkes. She was a manager with Shoe Show. She was an intelligent, determined woman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald “Ron” Lewis Winneberger and sister, Cindy.
She is survived by her children, James Vause (Deborah) of York, PA, Kay Parrish (Ron) of Youngsville, brother, David Wilkes (Gail) of Wake Forest, & grandson, Michael Vause.
Flowers welcomed, or memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
Graveside funeral service, 11 am, Friday, Beulah Christian Baptist Church. (Masks Required)

Della was a giver. She recognized people that were important to her. Her best gift to my family was her friendship. From our visit to the lake or meals in town, keeping an eye on each other’s homes if strangers showed up or if there were storms. Even sharing water when there was a mix up with our service. Besides giving she also accepted help graciously. She was protective of anyone she cared for and always found that positive side. She loved to laugh. However, those that knew her best knew of Hazel. And quite honestly Hazel was needed every now and then. She was a proud woman. Of her children, her extended family, friends and her past. She always wanted to do better and be better. She never stopped growing or giving. Della was truly a force. She will truly be missed.
