Dawn Brooks Lewis Alford, 80, of Pilot passed away on June 25, 2018. She was born in Franklin County on December 28, 1937 to the late Linda Ray Lewis & Claude Gillam Lewis. She graduated from Bunn High School. Dawn worked with the N. C. Revenue Dept. for 20 years & then retired from N. C. Sate University. She enjoyed working in her yard, taking care of her “precious” Kitty, and was an excellent cook.
Dawn is preceded in death by her husband, L. G. Alford, her sister, Jo Ward Tongue, & her beloved nephew, Timothy Lewis.
She is survived by her sister, Lazelle Jackson from Farmville, VA, brothers, Ray Lewis & wife Peggy of Wendell, Gerald Lewis & wife Elaine of Pearces. She is also survived by a special sister-in-law, Sue Cooke, 2 nieces, Jackie Strickland and husband, Curtis, Yvette Morgan & husband, Billy, great nieces, Katie Strickland & April Shearin, great nephews, Chris & John Strickland, great, great nieces, Piper Murray & Bradley Jane Strickland, & great, great nephew, Brady Strickland.
She leaves behind her special friend, Shirley Pearce.
Caretakers, Shelly Rawlings, Doris Baker, & Teresa Pearce.
Funeral service 4 pm, Wednesday, Pilot Baptist Church with visitation from 3-4 pm, prior to the service. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
Flowers accepted, or memorials may be made to the SPCA of Franklin County in Bunn.

Sue, I don’t know if you remember me, I am Leslie Ralph Howell’s wife (LG’s nephew), but we met a couple of times. I was sorry to hear of Dawn’s passing. Les also passed this past year, August 27, 2018. I am sorry we didn’t hear in time to attend the services. Dawn and LG were good people.
