David Richard Grubbs

David Richard Grubbs

David Richard Grubbs passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 2024, at the age of 70.

David was born to John and Doris Grubbs on April 14,1954, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He later moved to Raleigh, North Carolina where he met and married Linda Waters in 1985. David worked as a Manufacturing Engineer for Blount and Flowserve, and he was an expert in using the Computer-Aided Design system.

David was a leader, protector and provider for his family; he always put them first. He was a devoted caretaker for his wife and attended all of his children’s band practices and softball games. He was passionate about his hobbies. He was a rollercoaster enthusiast, and his happiest moments were spent at the amusement parks with his family. He was an avid collector of model trains and classic rock albums. He loved to watch Star Trek with his daughter, play disc golf with his son, and take his loved ones to concerts. David was the life of the party at every holiday celebration and family get-together. He was an excellent cook, the Chef de Cuisine of his family; everyone always looked forward to his special prime rib at Christmas. David was excited to take his children, niece and great-nephews to Kings Dominion next summer.

He was the most devoted husband and father, supportive brother, and the best uncle in the world. David will be deeply missed by his sisters, Jacqueline Jones and Stephanie Best; son, Adam Grubbs, daughter and son-in-law, Bridget Grubbs Meyer and Michael Meyer; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, October 26 at 2pm at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third Street, Wendell, NC 27591.

Arrangements are with Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third St., Wendell. www.stricklandfuneral.com

I am heartbroken over David’s passing. We had so many great times. He taught me to throw darts, let me drive his Trans Am before he got glasses, just too many good times to share here. I am so sorry to not be able to make it to the funeral. My heart will always be with Jackie and Stephanie and the rest of the family. RIP my friend.

Briefly in 2000 I worked with David at Blount, right before we all were laid off. He was a nice guy, also very cool. My deepest sympathies to his family.
