June 19, 1936 – July 20, 2023

Dan Lee Shropshire, 87, of Middlesex, NC, passed away on Thursday. He was born in Spartanburg, SC to the late William Silas and Margaret Jane Belue Shropshire. Dan was very proud to have served his country during the Korean war in the United States Army, but his love for that opportunity was of no comparison to the love he had for his family. Dan will forever be remembered as very intelligent and for his dry sense of humor and always making their children smile. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and reading. He is now absent from their presence, but never from their memories. Dan was preceded in death by his step son, Jan Barr and his siblings, Bobby, Frank, Billy and Frances.

Dan is survived by his loving wife, Gail Renfrow Shropshire, son, Lee Shropshire and step son, Jamie Barr, and his grandchildren, Colby Barr, Hayden Barr & Colt Barr.

Flowers are welcomed or donations can be made to Hales Chapel Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be held in the Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel on Monday, July 24, 2023 at 11:00am with visitation from 10:00am to 11:00am, prior to service. Entombment following the service at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
