Constance Marie Horton

January 31, 1946 – September 14, 2022

ARCHER LODGE – Constance Marie Horton, 76, passed away on Wednesday. She was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa to the late Robert G. Jacoba and Mary Real Jacoba. She worked tirelessly as a homemaker, devoting her life to her family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a grandson, Jordan Robert Horton and brother, Robert “Skip” Jacoba.

She is survived by her husband of 59 ½ years, Michael Robert Horton, Sr.; children, Michael Robert Horton, Jr., William Patrick Horton (Carrie), and Kristen Lee Horton; grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Horton (Trevon Carpenter) and Ava Marie Horton; siblings, Gary Jacoba (Nancy), David Jacoba (Chris), Deb Dimmitt (Don), and Kelly Martin (Luke) and many dear friends.

Connie was a devoted wife, mother (not only to her own children, but to any who wandered near) and grandmother taking every opportunity to spend time with friends and family, especially her children and grandchildren. She loved cooking, baking, sewing, listening to music and enjoying a good book. Her favorite place to be was with “her people,” near water, and with a cold beer or glass of wine.

In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation in Constance’s honor to the Duke Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Family Support Program or the American Lung Association.

Friends and Family are invited to join us for a cookout to celebrate Connie’s life. The celebration will be at 15767 Buffalo road, Archer Lodge (Mike’s home) at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 24, 2022. Arrangements entrusted to Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third Street, Wendell. www.stricklandfuneral.com.

I was sorry to hear of Connie’s passing. I have fond memories of us all being together at family reunions at Grandmas. Our adult lives have put us in different states, but also provided facebook to minimize those miles. I enjoyed conversations and postings in the past few years. Rest in peace dear cousin. You are with the Father, and free of earthly pain.
