WENDELL – Claude L. Carswell, 88, died Friday.  A native of Person County, NC, he was son to the late Charlie Asbury & Berta Wilkins Carswell.  He worked in the printing business and served his country in the U. S. Navy during WWII.  Claude was the founding member of The Spokesmen quartet and sang with the Wayfarers.  He loved Gospel Music and dancing.  

He is survived by his children, Mike Carswell (Vickie) of Franklinton, Carol Bowers (Steven) of Wendell, Lori Carswell of LaVergne, TN, sisters, Alice “Peachie” Moore, Hazel Mitchell (David), both of Danville, VA, grandchildren, Jennifer Kneer (Jacob), Stephanie Peterson (William), Shaun Carswell, Brandon Carswell (Jami), great grandchildren, Aiden & Riley Kneer, Ace & Jett Carswell.

Funeral service 7 pm, Monday, Strickland Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 6-7 pm, prior to the service.  Burial 2 pm, Tuesday, Danville Memorial Gardens in Danville,VA.

Flowers welcomed or memorials may be made to Kidney Research.

Arrangements are with Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St., Wendell.
