January 1, 1945 – March 24, 2023
LOUISBURG – Chester Malone Griffin, age 78, passed away at his home on Friday, March 24, 2023.
Chet is survived by his daughter, Stacey Griffin, brother, Andy Griffin, girlfriend of many years, Linda Senger, many nieces and nephews, and his cat, “Squirrel.”
Chet enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1963 at the age of 18 and served as an Aircraft Mechanic. He was Honorably Discharged from active duty in 1967 after fulfilling his enlistment contract. Upon completion of his faithful service, Chet would settle down in Riverside, CA where he had many grand adventures until the passing of his father, Eugene Malone Griffin in 1972. Chet returned home at that time, to care for his mother, Ida Mae Griffin.
Chet worked for the State of N.C. as a Computer Programmer until his retirement. He enjoyed his Saturdays with his golf buddies, playing a round or two of golf and playing poker afterwards. He loved spending time with Linda and her brother Clyde, playing Canasta and before covid, could be found at the gym with Andy and his girlfriend, Connie. But most of all, a great delight in Chet’s life was watching and supporting Stacey and her horse at the various horse shows they attended.
Those of us that knew Chet would agree that he had such a positive outlook on life and if you had ever called his phone and received his voicemail you would hear the following words supporting that positivity, “I’m having a wonderful day, I hope you are.”
In the spirit of positivity, Chet would want to be celebrated, not mourned so we ask that you please join us for a Memorial Visitation to Celebrate his life on Sunday, April 2, 2023 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory. Rendering of Military Honors will take place at 3:00pm.
Arrangements are entrusted to Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third St., Wendell, NC 27591.
