Carrie Faye Suggs
July 3, 1939 – April 11, 2024

Raleigh – Carrie Faye Suggs at 84, closed her eyes and took her last breath in her home and in the company of her loving children, embraced with their love and despair. She was born in Nash Co. to the late George and Amanda Strickland Hedgepeth. Carrie worked at WakeMed in medical records for over 30 years. Surely, they miss having such a dedicated and hard working woman, but nothing in comparison to the overwhelming joy and honor her children had being by her side all these years, especially in her last days. They will remember her for her wonderful sense of humor, as she was full of wit. Although, you’d have to be sure not to say to much to the “Towne Cryer”, as she was known for telling it all, whether you wanted it told or not. This, though is what made her who she was and why she was loved so dearly. The overwhelming display of affection by her children was nothing less than a testament to her life of love and compassion. Her memory will be honored in the lives of those she called family. She was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life for over 56 years, James A. Suggs, Jr.; her son, Sandy Suggs and all of her siblings.

Carrie is survived by her children, Alan Suggs (Lisa) and Susan Shearman; her grandchildren, Hannah, Zack, Wayne “punky” and Gwen Milder (Max); her great grandchild, Charlotte and many nieces and nephews whom she loved unconditionally. She also leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved cat “Frankie”.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, your favorite No-Kill shelter or to your charity of choice.

Memorial service will be at 11:00am on Saturday, April 20, 2024, in the Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel. The family will speak with friends following the service.

Arrangements are with Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third St., Wendell.

I am so sorry for your loss. She was such a sweet lady. He loved my nephew Herb Young and I met her through him. Prayers for all the family during this difficult time.
