Bess Buchanan Allen, 96, went to her Heavenly reward and saw the face of her savior early Friday morning. She was born in Wake County to the late James Samuel & Bessie Scarboro Buchanan. She graduated from UNC and taught at Wendell Elementary until her retirement. Bess was a woman who lived and expressed her faith, with a servants heart.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Dee James, Joy Allen Currin (Ron), 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, & 2 great, great grandchildren.

I enjoyed walking each evening with Bess after moving next door. I have thought of her so often since she left hoping she was able to remain as independent as possible. She was a strong woman who inspired others. I can only imagine her joy when she saw Jesus face to face! How blessed you were to have had her so many years.
