Bernice Strickland O’Neal

Bernice Strickland O’Neal, born August 9, 1923, age 96, of Wendell, NC passed from this earth on July 24, 2020.  She was a loving wife married to Thurman Alvin O’Neal on October 14, 1939 and mother of three; Elaine O’Neal Johnson (Robert Nelson Johnson) of Wallace, NC, Randy Lee O’Neal (Angela Gaskin O’Neal) of Wendell; Connie Bernice O’Neal of Zebulon; grandchildren, Ret. Lt. Col. Robert N. Johnson, Jr. (Maureen O’Neill Johnson), Arlington, VA; Samantha Perry Lambert (Richard Joseph Lambert), Zebulon, NC; Angela Denise Grimmer,  Burgaw, NC; Valerie Johnson Cavanaugh (James Daniel Cavanaugh) of Wallace, NC; Kelly Michelle Cote` (Gilbert Joseph Cote` Jr.) Cary, NC; Kristen O’Neal Teeter (John Teeter), Illinois; Ashley Easters, Zebulon, NC, Kenny Gaskins; great grandchildren Dylan Cote`, Aidan Easters, Thurman Teeter, C. John Teeter, Brittany Marie Turner; great, great grandchild, Mason Lee Turner.  Preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Alvin O’Neal and her parents Maimie Bryant Strickland and John Hilliard Strickland.  She had five brothers and one sister who passed on before her.  She was a farmer’s wife and worked as Corinth Baptist Church’s custodian for 30 years, sang in the choir, and loved her church family.  Her loving arms surrounded us and her meals prepared from the fruits and labor of our family farm were enjoyed by those fortunate enough to partake.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery are suggested.

Graveside service will be 3 pm, Sunday, Corinth Baptist Church and will be available Monday morning at www.facebook.com/stricklandfuneral

Arrangments are with Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W Third St., Wendell.

    look im Eddie spence im olene spence im so sorry to hear about aunt bernice no one contact us at all didnt even as much as but olene as her sister this was so messed up
