Benjiman Todd Roberts

Benjiman Todd Roberts

Benjiman Todd Roberts died after a lengthy illness on Friday, June 23, 2023.  Todd was born December 15, 1947, in Wake County to Bill Cozart and Mary Charlotte Todd Roberts.  He was raised on a tobacco farm in Wendell, NC where he learned the value of hard work and the love of the outdoors.

After graduating from Vaiden Whitley High School, Todd attended Wake Tech earning a degree in drafting.  He was then employed by the NC Department of Transportation where he worked for over 30 years.

Todd was a quiet, gentle man, with a wickedly dry wit and sense of humor.  Hunting and fishing were passions in which he excelled.  He was a natural athlete and talented wood carver.  Todd was blessed to have many friends and great neighbors.

In addition to his parents, Todd is preceded in death by his wife, Christine Ann Rice Roberts, his grandparents, Margaret Ruth Riggs Weltman Todd and Marvin “Preacher” Todd, McKinzie Thaddeus Roberts, and Lucy Eva Cozart Roberts.  He is survived by son, Zackary Todd Roberts (Lauren), brother, William Marshall Roberts (Janet), sister, Charlotte Carol Roberts Hinnant (Ray), and two grand dogs.

A memorial service will be held at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel, 211 W. Third St., Wendell, NC, on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 2:00 pm and will be followed by a visitation.

Special thanks to the staff and volunteers at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SECU Hospice House, 426 Hospital Rd., Smithfield, NC, 27577.  They need a new ice machine.

Remember Todd in school and after many years would occasionally cross paths in Wendell. Friends of our youth are not forgotten. Todd was a quiet man and pleasure to visit with.
