Ava Mae Long Clark

August 31, 1922 – April 1, 2018

Ava Long Clark, 95, passed away Sunday, April 1, while under hospice care at Whitestone Care and Wellness Center in Greensboro, NC. She was born in rural Wake County near Zebulon, NC on August 31, 1922 to the late James Edgar and Pearl Creech Long. In addition to her parents, Ava was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Clark, Jr.; sisters, Ella Dean Long Moss and Rachel Long Maiden, and a granddaughter, Whitney Clark.

Ava retired as a Spot Welder for Westinghouse after 30 years of service. She was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church for 58 years where she served as a Deacon and enjoyed being a member of the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Lions Club Ladies Auxiliary and Zebulon Woman’s Club. Ava was the Matriarch of a large loving family to whom she instilled an abiding faith, an industrious nature and a determination for success. Her family cherishes the memories of her love, her faith, her hard work, her smile and all the wonderful Christmas dinners she served.

A Special Thanks to the staff at Whitestone Care and Wellness Center for the care and love they showed Ava over the course of her stay.

Surviving Ava are her sons, Lt. Col Ronnie F. Clark U. S. Army Ret (Mary) of Wilmington, NC and John A. Clark, III (Beverly) of Zebulon, NC; daughter, Cathy C. Lichauer (Bob) of Jamestown, NC; 8 grandchildren, Jae, Kathryn, Emmarie, Peyton, Keely, Jen, Michael and Carole and 9 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Sarah, Ashley, Madison, Mackenzi, Lindsay, Daniel, Aiden and Ean.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Zebulon Baptist Church Building Fund or the Library for the Blind.

Funeral service Saturday, April 7, 2018, 2:30PM, Zebulon Baptist Church with visitation from 1-2:30, prior to the service.. Burial, Zebulon Town Cemetery.
