Anthony James Nicolaou

Anthony James Nicolaou, 14, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones Wednesday night after an arduous battle with leukemia. Throughout his journey, he remained strong and courageous. He was born in Jacksonville, NC in 2009 and became part of the Taylor family in Pikeville, NC in 2015. Anthony was an avid fisherman, gamer, baseball player and car enthusiast. With the encouragement and support of his family and church youth group, he recently accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Though a young man of few words, he had an immense impact on the lives of many. He will be remembered fondly for his love of four wheeling, spaghetti and ice cream. His family will forever cherish the time they spent together.

He is survived by his loving parents, David & Roxanne Taylor, his mother, Shannon Nicolaou, siblings, Erik Taylor (Jenny), Kecia Poling (Matthew), Mercedez Nicolaou, nephews & nieces, Jackson Taylor, Gracyn Taylor, Colton Pliler, Emersyn Poling, Jacob Poling, & Briana Poling, aunt, Heather Hymes and cousin, Kilie Sasser.

The celebration of life will be held in the Chapel, Building B, of Central Baptist Church (11109 Poole Rd, Wendell, NC 27591) on Saturday, November 25 at 2pm. The family will receive friends and family at 1pm in the Chapel. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Durham, Duke Children’s Hospital Child and Adolescent Life Team, or Duke Cancer Institute, Pediatric Cancer Research.

Arrangements are with Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third St., Wendell.
