Anna Miller Cobb Stewart

Anna Miller Cobb Stewart (November 9, 1935 – February 21, 2020)

Wendell – Anna Miller “Ann” Stewart, 84, died at home with her family surrounding her on Friday. She was born in Danville, Virginia, to the late Kenneth Atkinson Cobb and Mildred Stewart Cobb. Ann attended Durham High School and Duke University. She married John Davey Stewart, whom she met at a college dance (he attended UNC at Chapel Hill). They married shortly after. She stayed home with her children for years before going back to work. She retired from the North Carolina Child Support Enforcement Agency. She was a substitute teacher for many years, much to the dismay of her school-aged children and grandchildren! Many of the students she taught called her “Mama Ann”, just as the grandchildren did. She loved her family with all her heart. Ann was an outgoing, intelligent lady who served in various capacities at her church with a heart for service. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Hoe ‘n Hope Garden Club for more than 50 years. She loved Bridge and many other card games. She will be missed but never forgotten.

She is survived by her children – Marian Stewart of Columbus, Ohio, David Stewart (Bonnie) of Hope Mills and Margaret Ayscue (Dean) of Wendell. She had 6 grandchildren – Ashley (Jonathan), Kimberly (Josh), Michael, Tyler (Kelly) Holden, Deana and 7 great-grandchildren – Bryson, Aiden, Caydence, Brantlee, Layni, Rhett and Wilder.

The family will receive friends at Ann’s home from 4:00pm – 5:30pm Saturday, February 29th. Her memorial service will be held at 3:00pm Sunday, March 1st, at Wendell United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Wake County.
